Install and get started in four steps
The same installer also supports Microsoft Office. These steps use WPS as the example.
- Close Word, Excel, WPS Writer and WPS Spreadsheets completely before installing
- Download and run the TopCopilot installer. It automatically matches 32/64-bit systems and usually requires no administrator privileges
- Open WPS Writer or WPS Spreadsheets, click the AI Assistant tab in the ribbon, open the sidebar and sign in
- Choose entire-document, entire-sheet or selection translation, set the target language and write-back mode, then start translating
What the WPS translation add-in can do
The Writer and Spreadsheets sidebars offer the same core tools as the Office add-ins: document/sheet translation, selection and selected-text translation, bilingual display, translation fonts and glossaries.

WPS built-in translation vs TopCopilot sidebar
Tests on the same master's thesis in WPS Writer found that built-in whole-document translation was more prone to problems with contents, page numbers and cross-references.

Frequently asked questions
Which versions does the WPS translation add-in support?
TopCopilot supports WPS Writer 2023+ and WPS Spreadsheets 2023+ on Windows 10/11. The same installer also supports Microsoft Word / Excel 2016+.
Do Writer and Spreadsheets need separate installations?
No. Download the TopCopilot installer once, then open the same sidebar from the AI Assistant tab in WPS Writer or WPS Spreadsheets.
Does WPS support bilingual translation?
Yes. In WPS Writer, choose Bilingual as the write-back mode before translating to insert translations below the original paragraphs. In WPS Spreadsheets, translate a sheet or selection, then use Table display to switch between translated, bilingual and original views.
Is bilingual translation software free?
The TopCopilot WPS translation add-in offers a free Windows download and trial. For comparison, choose Bilingual before translating in Writer or switch to Bilingual after translating in Spreadsheets. For English web pages, install the separate TopCopilot AI Translation Assistant extension; Bing, Google and the browser's built-in AI engine offer free bilingual viewing. Check your account and the pricing page for ongoing allowances.
Can I choose the translation font?
Yes. Click the gear beside the target language and choose Translation font. The default is Auto (follow original), or you can choose Microsoft YaHei, SimSun, Arial and other fonts. Both Writer and Spreadsheets support this setting.
How does it differ from WPS's built-in translation?
Both handle short passages. In our tests on theses and long documents with automatic contents, cross-references and page-number fields, WPS's built-in whole-document translation was more prone to duplicated contents, doubled page numbers and references becoming plain text. The sidebar add-in writes back paragraph by paragraph and supports bilingual output, translation fonts and glossaries.
Where do I open the add-in after installation?
Open WPS Writer or WPS Spreadsheets, then click the AI Assistant tab in the ribbon to open the sidebar.
How do I download the WPS translation add-in?
Close WPS, download the Windows installer from this page or the official download page, and run it. Writer and Spreadsheets do not require separate installations.
How does this page differ from the WPS Spreadsheets translation add-in page?
This page covers both WPS Writer and WPS Spreadsheets. Spreadsheet translation includes entire sheets, selected cell ranges and skipping formula columns. Both use the same installer.
