Web translation extension: translate an entire page with bilingual text below the original

Browser translation, page translation and real-time reading

When choosing a web translation tool, focus on how it presents translations and whether you can switch engines. TopCopilot covers these three common needs.

Browser translation · Bilingual whole pages

Open an English page and click Translate This Page. Translations appear below each paragraph, so you do not need to switch back and forth to the original. Useful for articles, technical documentation and long forum posts.

Page translation · Body text only

Recognizes the main content and skips navigation, ads and code blocks. Translate directly on the original site without copying the entire page into another tool.

Real-time web translation · Four engines

Bing, Google Translate and built-in browser AI are free. Switch engines if one is not a good fit; the LLM engine is suited to long sentences and specialist content.

For English–Chinese close reading, the extension supports selected-text translation and multiple target languages; for reading Gmail / Outlook emails, see Email translation extension; for Word and Excel documents, use the Windows translation add-ins。

Translate a whole page in three steps

No copying, pasting or switching to another translation website.

Click the toolbar icon to open the sidebar, choose your target language and engine, then start whole-page translation with one click.

  3. 3

Bilingual translations appear below the original

Translations appear paragraph by paragraph below the original without leaving the page. Switch to translation-only view or restore the original at any time.

Four translation engines, switchable in the sidebar

If one engine does not suit the page, try another without changing extensions. Choose between free engines and the subscriber engine as needed.

Frequently asked questions

Are translation add-ons, translation extensions and web translators the same thing?
In Chrome and Edge, these names usually refer to browser extensions that translate pages from a toolbar or sidebar. TopCopilot AI Translation Assistant is a Manifest V3 extension. It is separate from the Windows Word and Excel add-ins: use the extension for websites and the Windows installer for documents.
Where can I download the translation extension?
In Microsoft Edge Add-ons, search for TopCopilot AI Translation Assistant or open its listing to install it for free. Requires Edge 114 or later. The Chrome Web Store listing is coming soon. Windows Word and Excel add-ins use a separate installer from our download page.
How do I choose a web translation extension?
Look for bilingual translations below the original, a choice of engines and body-text-only translation. TopCopilot offers Bing, Google, built-in browser AI and LLM engines. It inserts translations below the main content, making it useful for everyday reading of English websites.
Which browsers does the extension support?
TopCopilot AI Translation Assistant uses Manifest V3 and supports Chrome and Edge based on Chromium 114 or later, as well as other compatible Chromium browsers. It is available on Microsoft Edge Add-ons; the Chrome Web Store listing is coming soon. Click the toolbar icon to open the sidebar.
Is the web translation extension free?
Bing, Google Translate and built-in browser AI engines are free. The LLM engine requires a paid subscription and uses credits from the same TopCopilot account as the web app and Word, Excel and WPS add-ins.
What if a page cannot be translated or the browser has no translate button?
Built-in Chrome or Edge translation may be unavailable on some sites, PDFs or pages restricted by organization policies. Copying an entire page into another website is cumbersome. Check the browser's translation settings first; if needed, try a third-party extension with a choice of engines.
Will whole-page translation replace the original text?
No. Each translated paragraph is inserted below the original for bilingual reading. The sidebar can also show translations only, or remove all translations in one click to restore the page.
Does it support automatic page translation?
Open a page and click Translate This Page once in the sidebar; no need to select each paragraph. Your target language and engine preferences are remembered. Keeping translations below the original is useful for close reading and comparison, unlike replacing all the original text.
What is the difference between a page translator and a translation extension?
These terms often refer to tools that translate websites in the browser. TopCopilot inserts translations below the original and offers Bing, Google Translate and built-in browser AI engines. For short passages, select text or paste it into an engine panel in the sidebar.
Do Edge and Chrome need different translation extensions?
You do not need different feature sets. Install from Microsoft Edge Add-ons now; the Chrome Web Store listing is coming soon with the same features. The extension can coexist with Edge's built-in translation and adds bilingual reading below the original.

Use the Windows add-ins to translate documents with formatting preserved

Use the browser extension for websites and the Windows add-ins for Word, Excel and WPS documents, sharing one account and credit balance.
