When is it useful?

Whenever the source is an image rather than a table,Image to Excel can save the time of retyping it.

Tables in Mac or Windows screenshots

Paste directly after taking a screenshot; no need to save a file first.

Table screenshots received in WeChat

When someone sends only an image, recognize it as xlsx without retyping it.

Photographed paper reports and receipts

Take a photo on your phone and upload it to recover rows, columns, structure and text as a table.

Tables that cannot be exported from a website or system

Upload a screenshot and get editable cell data you can total.

Combine multiple images into one table

If one long table is split across screenshots, upload up to 5 at once and combine them in one pass.

If you enter data in Excel every day and the result must be written directly into the current workbook, use the Windows add-inImage to Table. For occasional conversions or work on a Mac / phone, use online conversion on this page.

How to take high-accuracy images

Image quality has the biggest effect on recognition. These factors matter most.

Works well

  • Straight-on screenshot with complete table borders
  • Clear text without compression blur
  • Long tables split into multiple images and uploaded in order
  • Describe the header rows under Conversion requirements

Needs manual checking

  • Tilted photos, glare or shadows
  • Handwriting or very dense small text
  • Many merged cells or tables without borders
  • Check key amounts and total rows item by item

If the original file is a PDF rather than an image, use PDF to Excel for better results.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Windows add-in and online conversion?
Both use the same Image to Excel / Image to Table capability. The Windows add-in runs in a separate Image to Table panel inside Excel or WPS Spreadsheets, writes results directly into the current workbook and can also download an xlsx. The web version requires no installation, produces an editable xlsx and works on Mac and phones.
Which image formats and sizes does Image to Excel support?
PNG, JPG / JPEG, WebP and BMP are supported, up to 10 MB per image. The web version accepts up to 5 images at once; the Windows Image to Table add-in handles one at a time. File types are detected from their content, so renaming an extension does not work.
Can I paste a screenshot directly?
Yes. Paste with Ctrl+V in the web upload area, or use Paste screenshot / Ctrl+V in the Image to Table panel of the Windows add-in. System screenshots from Windows and Mac both work.
Can I use screenshot-to-Excel with phone photos?
Yes. Clear screenshots or photos taken straight on to the table work best. Mac screenshots, table images saved from WeChat and photos of paper receipts can all be uploaded. Check numbers manually for tilted, reflective or handwritten images.
Can long screenshots be recognized as tables?
You can try. Long or stitched screenshots with aligned columns and clear numbers work well for screenshot-to-Excel . Ads, chat bubbles or misaligned stitching in the middle can mix columns, so crop the image and upload sections separately. The web version supports Ctrl+V, and Mac screenshots work too.
How accurate is recognition?
Tables that are clear, viewed straight on and fully framed work best. Tilted photos, glare, handwriting or very dense small text can reduce accuracy, so check key numbers after export.
Will multiple images be combined into one table?
The web version processes images in upload order and outputs one xlsx. If the images contain unrelated tables, upload them separately. The Windows Image to Table add-in processes one image at a time.
Can I specify headers or ignore certain content?
Yes. Describe your requirements under Conversion requirements, such as specifying a header row or ignoring footer or total rows, up to 2,000 characters. Both the add-in and web version support this.
Can I use it on a Mac or phone?
The web version opens directly in a browser. Mac, iPad and phone users can sign in by scanning a code without installing the add-in. To write directly into the current Excel / WPS workbook, use the Windows add-in.
Are my images saved? How are credits charged?
Uploaded images are used only for the current conversion task and temporary files are cleaned up afterward. Charges are deducted from your credit balance according to the number of images and parsing workload; your balance is checked before upload.
