Frequently asked questions

Are “online translation” and “translate online” the same thing?
Both searches usually mean translating in a browser without installation. This page handles whole Word documents: upload a .docx, choose a language and download the translation, preserving formatting where possible. For English websites, use the Web translation extension ; for Excel spreadsheets, use online translation or the add-in.
How does it differ from a copy-and-paste translation website?
General translation websites usually process pasted plain text, losing structures such as bold formatting, numbering, tables, headers and footers. TopCopilot accepts an entire .docx, translates paragraph by paragraph and writes back into the document structure, preserving formatting where possible. It suits document-level translation without installing an add-in.
Which file formats are supported?
This document tool supports .docx files up to 20 MB and 200 pages. For whole Excel workbooks, use Online Excel spreadsheet translation ; very large documents or complex layouts are better handled with the Word / WPS add-ins.
Is formatting guaranteed after online translation?
We aim to preserve bold text, lists and tables. Check complex fields such as tables of contents, cross-references and page numbers in the translated copy. For highly complex documents, use the Word / WPS add-ins to translate the whole document in place.
Are my files stored?
No. Uploaded files are used only for the current translation task. Temporary files are cleared after the translated file is downloaded, and no translation history is retained.
Can I use it on a Mac or phone?
Yes. Open the web version in your browser on a Mac, iPad or phone and sign in by scanning the QR code. Windows users who need larger documents, glossaries or selection translation can download the desktop add-in.
How are credits deducted?
The web version shares your credit account with the add-ins and charges for the actual amount translated. Your balance is checked before upload. If credits run out, the task can pause and resume from its progress after a top-up. See the pricing and account pages.
What about complex papers, tables of contents and cross-references?
Try the web version on a copy first. For papers with many table-of-contents fields, cross-references and page numbers, use whole-document translation in WPS / Word and work on a copy. This helps with complex document structures.
